Connection is central to me when it comes to dance. The connection with yourself, your body, your movement, but also with the outside world, the music and the people around you. For me, dance has always been a medium of expression and communication. I firmly believe that dance is a natural extension of our intuitive movement and physical expression. Something so personal, that it transcends form.
When I teach, I therefore focus on the motivations and processes behind the movements. I’m interested in sincerity and personality. For this reason, I will always give room for personal interpretation. In my classes I offer a space full of possibilities for discovery, where one can experience and develop oneself, while learning with, through and from each other. I encourage everyone to be exactly who they are.
We live in a constantly changing society in which we sometimes tend to forget ourselves. Dance, on the other hand, works for me as a kind of antipole that can help us - as a unity of art and culture - to reflect on our attitudes, our behaviour and our environment. In this way, I believe that dance can give us new insights. That dance can help us to learn about our society and culture. That dance can help us to relate to others and the rest of the world.
It is my wish to contribute - through dance - to the creation of an authentic society in which we have the courage to appreciate ourselves as we are.
